At Photo LA this year, one of my favorite things were 2 color photographs by Photo Leauge photographer, Ida Wyman. Ms. Wyman, now 84, recently discovered color film she shot in the 1940′s on the streets of New York. The work was shown by Stephen Cohen Gallery, who generously supplied me with these wonderful images. I just love her perspective and her images have a magical memory quality for me…definitely in my dream photography collection.
“Her photographs manage to be both specific and universal. They will appeal to those who remember mid-century America, as well as those who simply respond to a human moment captured on film,” says MMoCA curatorial assistant Carl Fuldner, who organized an exhibition in her hometown of Madison, WI.
